Since the 19th century

The house where Lucas Alamán was born

Lucas Alamán, the Mexican statesman, historian and writer, was born in this house in 1792. The building keeps its 19th-century architecture: the arches, the courtyard under its stained-glass skylight, the high ceilings.

In 2010 it became the first hotel of Grupo Hotelero Leyendas in the city of Guanajuato. A house full of history, adapted for a comfortable stay.

FAQ

Before you book

Do all rooms look at the Basílica?

No. The view of Plaza de la Paz and the Basílica is from the balcony of the Jr. Suite with Balcony. The Master Suites have a large window onto Calle Juárez, the Superior with View faces Calle Alonso, and the Jr. Suite Interior and Suite Interior face the inside of the house. If the view is what you want, choose the Jr. Suite with Balcony.

Where is the hotel located?

At Plaza de La Paz #48, Historic Center, Guanajuato, 2 minutes from the Basílica de Guanajuato and about 32 minutes by taxi from Guanajuato International Airport, per Google Maps.

Is breakfast included?

Yes. Breakfast is included in the rate for all our rooms.

Does the hotel have parking?

The hotel is in the Historic Center, in a beautiful 19th-century house converted into a hotel, so it has no parking of its own. From the moment you book, we offer practical alternatives to sort this out.

Are the rooms quiet?

La Casona sits on Plaza de la Paz, at the heart of the historic center, a lively area. Rooms with a view face the street; if you are a light sleeper, we recommend the Jr. Suite Interior or the Suite Interior.

Can I stay with family or friends?

Yes. Our two-level Jr. Suites have one king-size bed and 2 double beds and sleep up to 6.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 3:00 p.m. and check-out is at 12:00 p.m. If you arrive early or leave late, you can store your luggage at the front desk.

Should I use my car to get around Guanajuato?

The best way to see the city is on foot. Most of the top sights are a few minutes' walk from the hotel. For places like the Mummies of Guanajuato and the mines, it is best to book one of the tours offered directly at the hotel.

What should I pack for Guanajuato?

Comfortable walking shoes are a must for the city's beautiful cobblestone streets. Guanajuato is mild most of the year, but nights can be cool, especially in autumn and winter. In spring and summer, a hat helps keep the sun off.

Does the hotel have WiFi?

Yes, the hotel offers WiFi from 30 Mb.
